Discovering all things active!

You are welcome along to this FREE event to experience what amazing activities we have on our doorstep. We have a great day planned for everyone to enjoy at Torvean Park in Inverness! Take the opportunity to walk the canal, cycle around the park, cycle around the local trails and try something different with our many activities on offer.

This event has been supported through the Community Cycling Fund and our sponsors EventScotland (part of VisitScotland) and Paths for all, celebrating the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships taking place in Scotland this year.

What's on offer? Pump Track:

Children friendly activity - Muckmedden's guided pump track will bring some liveliness to the event with children’s bikes on offer to use on a staffed skills track.

Sender ramps:

Why not try some ramps as well as the pump track to practice your bike skills? Join 42 Cycling to try this out!

Introduction to E biking for all:

Want to try E biking? This is your perfect opportunity to try an hours ride around Torvean Park and the Caledonian Canal to learn more about how to use them and feel confident in using them. With our expert bike leaders, sign up now for your FREE spot at either 10am, 12pm or 2pm!

Adult Cycle Training Courses with Velocity:

Two free cycling sessions will be available for adults, the first is aimed at absolute beginners and cyclists who would like to work on their bike control and basic skills. And the second is aimed at cyclists who are ready to get out on the road, or looking to further improve their road skills.

Mountain Bike rental:

E bikes not for you? Try a mountain bike instead! We are offering 8 mountain bikes over the course of the day to hire out for 1 hour- just turn up, first come, first served!

Self Guided Routes:

Fancy a look around but have no idea where to start? We've got you covered, we will give you some route ideas for the day!

Sit on Kayak Taster Sessions:

We will be offering sit on kayak taster sessions. These will last 30 minutes and all equipment and tuition will be provided. At the nearby canal, you will join the wonderful Highland Experiences for your adventure.  Bookings essential - click here to book your place for free.

Walking Tour:

Join Cath from Walk Inverness on a fantastic walking tour around Tomnahuirich, Ness Hydro, the River Ness, Botanic Gardens and Caledonian Canal. Bookings essential - click here to book your place for free.

Smoothie Bike:

Fancy making your own smoothie with pedal power? Sit upon our smoothie bike, pedal away and claim your FREE fruit smoothies over the course of the day!

Accessible Bikes:

We are delighted to be teaming up with Highland Mobility Centre for a chance to test out some accessible bikes, such as trikes. You can simply turn up and give it a go!

Bike Health Checks:

Our Dr Bikes specialists velocity cafe and workshop and 42 cycling will take a look at your bikes to diagnose any repairs, and in some cases, fix them! We will also be offering workshops to learn more about changing and repairing your trusty steel horses.

Treasure Hunt:

Who doesn't love a treasure hunt? Take part in our family-friendly treasure hunt, with some excellent prizes to be won on your return!

Archery & Axe Throwing :

The team from Bowhunter Archery will be joining us for the day, head to the stall to learn all about the skills of archery and axe throwing.

Cairngorm Activities :

Find out about the incredible amount of fun, outdoor activities you can do with the guys from Cairngorm Activities. They will be with us on the day to tell you more and inspire you to give them a go!

Local Active Travel Stalls:

We will have some wonderful organisations joining us so you can hear more about active travel, how to get involved and how we can help including Paths for All.

Local Food and Drink:

We will be ensuring you are caffeine fuelled as the Highland Coffee Academy will be selling coffees throughout the day. Oregano will be there with fresh and delicious food to make sure you don't go hungry and for some sweet treats we have Loch Ness Ice cream joining us for the day.

There is paid parking available on site, however, those that come by other methods of transport than a car will receive a FREE water bottle (For the first 100) so we highly recommend that you bike, walk or wheel to the event.

Bike: If you already know the routes and own a bike, why not pedal down?

Walking: Dependant where you live, or are staying, there are many walking routes to reach Torvean Park. Situated just off the canal, and the venue for Park Run, we will be easy to find!
